What happens while you dance tango?
While we practice tango, there is no chance for our mind to wander elsewhere. All of our attention is directed toward our own body, while the touch of our partner’s body awakens new places within us—places we didn’t even know existed. This dynamic is so alive and continuous that it leaves no room for drifting away or escaping into our thoughts.
We empty our minds and inhabit our bodies, at our own pace, in our own rhythm. We fill the body with presence and awareness, like the light of a new day gently slipping through the darkness of early morning. And after some time, creativity appears—neural pathways illuminate new routes, creating something new and magical.
That is why we practice tango, even after we have learned its basic forms. That is why there is no time frame for learning this dance. With each new phase of learning and knowing, we become closer to ourselves. We don't do it to compete with anyone, nor to be better than others, but to embody ourselves, to recreate ourselves again and again, with every new moment, every new step, every new breath. To dive into the depths of our being, to have more of ourselves.
Only after we are able give more of ourselves to ourselves—we will be able to give more of ourselves to the world. 💛
